William L. "Giizhik" Pyawasit, age 33 of Zoar passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at his home. Born on August 26, 1978 in Antigo, he was the son of Myron and Doris (Mitchell) Pyawasit. Giizhik was a member of the Class of 1998, Menominee Indian High School and had been a cultural teacher at the Keshena Primary School. He enjoyed Pow Wow drumming and singing, hunting and fishing. He is a member of the Menominee Big Drum. Survivors include; his parents, Myron and Doris Pyawasit of Zoar, siblings; Cheyenne (Vincent Wolfe) Pyawasit of Lac du Flambeau, Mary (Joe Konczak) Pyawasit of Duluth, MN, Sarah (Bernie LeMieux) Pyawasit of Lac du Flambeau, Elizabeth (Leon Penass) Pyawasit of Zoar, Bradley Pyawasit of Zoar, Kino (Betsy Trudeau) Pyawasit of Zoar, Wassay (Jay Wemigwans) Pyawasit of Canada, Daynelle (Quinton Recollect) Pyawasit of Canada, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Pyawasit, Jr. Burial rites will conclude at 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Pyawasit Family Burial Grounds. Family and friends may call at the Zoar Ceremonial Building from 5 pm on Sunday until the burial.
