William C.
Ziemer, Jr.
May 19, 1931 – July 9, 2025
William C. Ziemer, Jr., age 94, of Town of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday July 9, 2025, at his home. William was born on May 19, 1931, to the late William and Hattie (Sperberg) Ziemer. He attended Texas School, Red River Grade School and graduated from Shawano High School in 1949. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army from July 1949 to December of 1952 with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
On October 9, 1951, he was united in marriage to Margaret E. Taylor of Clinton, North Carolina. After his discharge from the service, he worked at Continental Can Company in Milwaukee for 36 years. After retirement in 1989, the family moved back to his childhood home in Red River.
William volunteered his time to a lot of organizations including the Salem United Methodist Church in Red River, American Legion Post #82 of Port Washington, Red River Sportsmen Club and United Steelworkers Union. William enjoyed his trips to Canada, fishing with his friends, hunting, gardening, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren during holidays and little get togethers. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
William is survived by his children, Sandra Stockinger of Thiensville, Susan (Ken) Zacher of Saukville, Bonnie (Tom) Sanfelippo of West Bend, Mike (Therese) Ziemer of West Bend, Debbie Saueressig of Cascade and Shelley (Gary) Hays of Cedarburg; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and good friend, David Hohn. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
William is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; siblings, Lorenzo Ziemer, Lavern Ziemer, James Ziemer, Marvin Ziemer, Willard Ziemer, Leona Salzman, Ione Bucholtz, Irma Clark and Elda Stoltz; best friend who he saw more as a brother, Percy Schwerke; and parents, William, Sr., and Hattie.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday July 19, 2025 at Salem United Methodist Church in Red River with Pastor Daniel Kim officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Inurnment will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem United Methodist Church for the building fund.
