Obituary

Yvonne Marie (Tucker) Genett died at the age of 88 on Thursday January 22, 2026. Yvonne was known as "Connie" to family and friends, as "mom" to six children, "gramma" to eleven grandchildren, "great gramma" to eleven great grandchildren, and "auntie" to numerous nieces and nephews. She lived in New London, WI, from 1996 until her passing in January 2026. Born at the Menominee Indian Hospital in Keshena, WI, on December 14, 1937, she is the daughter of Raphael Mose Tucker and Josephine Florence (Crawford) Tucker. She was raised in Keshena on the Menominee Nation Reservation, attended St. Joseph's Indian School in Keshena and in 1956, at the age of 19, married Darryl J. Genett of Neenah. Theirs was a nearly 40-year marriage. Though they lived in various places in Wisconsin, Keshena was always her home and the place she returned to whenever the opportunity arose.

She lived a long life and loved spending time with her parents, one brother and six sisters, all of whom she outlived. They spent hours, often late at night, gathered at her parents modest home in Keshena playing cards, telling jokes, laughing, reminiscing over past events, and discussing family issues. She loved window shopping in Shawano with her sisters Margie, Betty and Joyce; visiting with her sister Virginia "Tadeet" and her brother Bobbie; camping on LaMotte Lake at her sister Luellas's campground; and just taking long drives in the country.

She was predeceased by her husband who died in 1996; by her paternal grandparents Mose and Louise (Grignon) Tucker; her maternal grandparents William and Jane (Martin) Crawford; her parents Raphael Mose "Ralph" Tucker and Josephine Florence "Jo" (Crawford) Tucker; her sisters Francis "Frannie" Tucker, Virginia "Tadeet" Pamonicutt (Sam "Sam Bass"), Luella "Lu" Pamonicutt (George "Nebs"), Elizabeth "Betty" Oshkeshquoam (Floyd Oshkeshquoam and Mel Sterns) Margaret "Margie" Boivin (Robert "Mickey"), Joyce "Joycie" Richter (Michael), and her brother Robert "Bobbie" Tucker (Agnes and Donna). A grandson, Jesse Rohde, also predeceased her at the age of 25 in 2002 in Berlin, WI. \

Yvonne was a beautiful woman who enjoyed the simple things in life and was intelligent, compassionate, and the center of life for her children. In her later years she enjoyed her small flower garden; putting together puzzles; playing cards and "marbles" (Aggravation) with anyone who would play; watching her "shows" on tv; enjoying the "Tiny Tot" dancers at the annual Menominee Nation Pow Wow; spending far too many hours at the Menominee casino - often with family and friends. She loved taking walks out in the woods; taking long rides on her pontoon boat; and one of her favorite past times, simply going for a long leisurely country drive early in the morning just as the sun came up when the fall color was at it's best. She travelled extensively throughout the U.S. with her husband, children and sisters. Her emotional strength saw her through many difficult times especially attending the funerals of so many family members and friends.

She offers her appreciation to all who traveled with her on life's journey. She wants to recognize each of her children, her son-in-law Gary Falke, her neighbor Louie Campbell, and her daughter-in-law Jill Genett for all their help and assistance over the years. She especially wants to acknowledge her many friends including Mary "Debbie" Cox, the late Kay Stuebs and the late Karen Dorn; her eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren who, whether they knew it or not, gave her so much joy; to all those who cared for her in her later years; and to all her family and friends who shared life's joys or helped her through life's travails.

Her final days were spent in hospice care at her home of 25 years in New London surrounded by all the love and care her family could offer. In the end she just wanted her mom to come take her home.

She is survived by one remaining brother-in-law, Michael Richter of Shawano, WI, and by six children:  Darrell Genett (Amy) of De Pere, WI; Warren Genett (William Duncan) of Cumming, GA; Pamela Pray (Kevin) of Almond, WI; Wendy Genett (Dennis Brehmer) of Townsend, WI; Martina Falke (Gary) of Manawa, WI; and Steven Genett (Jill) of Oconto Falls, WI. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Amanda Burnett (Brandon), Kayla Genett, Joshua Johnston, Dillin Pray, Megan Pray, Joe Falke (Toni), Melissa Hruska (Mike), Nicole Simonis (Lance), Alexandria McHugh (Patrick), Gabriel Genett and by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her last requests will be honored. At her instruction Yvonne will be cremated and a portion of her ashes will be placed upon the gravesite of her parents at "St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery" in Keshena. Her remaining ashes will be interred adjacent to the grave of her husband at "Our Lady of the Woods Cemetery" a few miles north of Keshena. There will be no services and her passing will be memorialized by those who knew her in life at Swedberg Funeral Home, 518 W. 5th Street, Shawano, WI, on Saturday January 31, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 6:00pm.

Her spirit journey has begun and one day we'll all be together again.
