Yvonne Patricia "Vonnie" Kriewaldt, age 87, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 in Shawano. Yvonne was born on July 4, 1932, in Shawano, to the late Alfred and Norma (Bohm) Beyer. She graduated from Shawano High School and worked at Badger Breeders as a young woman. On June 12, 1954, Vonnie was united in marriage to Emil Kriewaldt at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Emil preceded her in death on October 8, 2012. Vonnie and Emil owned and operated a Dairy Queen in Mundelein, Illinois from 1961 – 1999. Vonnie was involved with the Altar Guild at Christ Lutheran Church in Vernon Hills, IL and was an Election Judge in Lake County, IL. She was passionate about her flower gardens and decorating for every holiday, she especially loved Christmas. She had a love for music and enjoyed dancing to polkas and waltzes. Traveling was one of her passions and she and Emil took numerous trips throughout the United States and the world. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends in her free time. Yvonne loved her family dearly and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Vonnie is survived by: her children, Greg (Ann) Kriewaldt of Illinois, Kay (Dan) Cullen of Oregon, Gwen (Al) Andrea of Illinois, Marc (K.T.) Kriewaldt of Colorado, and Joy Kriewaldt of Shawano; her grandchildren; one sister, Karen Pieper of Shawano; and one sister-in-law, Eileen Treichel of Arizona; she is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Emil Kriewaldt; her parents, Alfred and Norma Beyer; and brothers-in-law, David Pieper and Lloyd Treichel.
A funeral service for Vonnie will be held at 5:00 pm, on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Stony Hill with Rev. John Eyer officiating. Burial will be in Willow Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
