Yvonne M. Waukau Pamonicutt Knowles, age 86 of Shawano, formerly of Neopit, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Shawano Medical Center. Born on June 8, 1925 in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Susie (Wilber) Waukau. After graduating from high school, Yvonne attended Nurses Training School in Antigo. She lived in the Neopit area most of her life and worked at a local nursing home. When not at work, Yvonne enjoyed going to pow-wows, playing bingo, having cookouts, and spending time with her family. Yvonne was the last living Gold Star Mother of the Menominee Nation. Yvonne is survived by: 4 children, Suzette (Butch) Summers of Keshena, Nanette (Jonathan) Corn of Neopit, Michael (special friend, Theresa) Pamonicutt of Chicago, Mervin (special friend, Paula) Pamonicutt of Keshena; 25 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren. Yvonne is further survived by: a sister, Jolly Waukau of Milwaukee; 2 brothers, Mervin "Yogi" Waukau of Milwaukee, Tony Waukau of Minneapolis; 4 sisters-in-law, Yvonne Waukau, Joan Waukau, Diana Waukau and Karen Waukau; and a special friend, Elaine Peters. Yvonne was preceded in death by: her husbands, Martin Pamonicutt, Bede J. Knowles; 3 sons, Mark, Martin and Marvin Pamonicutt; 2 daughters-in-law, Lori and Linda Pamonicutt; 3 grandchildren, Marvin Pamonicutt, Michael Pamonicutt, Jr., Rebecca Wilber; her parents; 7 brothers, Hilary, Orman, Marvin, Wayne, Lloyd and Roger Waukau and Wendell Irving; and 2 sisters, Juanita Irving and Monica Bell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center starting at 5pm on Tuesday until the time of the service on Thursday. A Parish Wake service will be held at the community center on Wednesday at 8pm. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
