Lon Swedberg

Funeral Director

Lon began his career in funeral service at the age of 8 when he would help his father at their family funeral home in Webster, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, Lon attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for three years and graduated cum laude from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1969. He married Ellen Hansen in 1969 in Chippewa Falls and the couple had two children, Ginger and Todd. He has been as licensed funeral director in the Shawano area since 1971. In March of 2004, Lon was awarded the CPC (Certified Preplanning Consultant) Certification. He later received the Paul Harris Award from the Shawano Rotary Club. Lon is active in the communities he serves as a member of Shawano Masonic Lodge, BEJA Shrine Temple, Shawano Chamber of Commerce, and Zion Lutheran Church. He was member of the Shawano Shrine Club, Whitetails Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited and the local Muskie Club. In his spare time Lon enjoys elk hunting and going to Canada with his brother-in-law fishing.

Ellen Swedberg

After Care Director

Ellen graduated from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. In 1971, she moved to the Shawano area with her husband Lon where she worked as a nurse until she was needed at the funeral home. Ellen assists with bereavement and educational issues in funeral service. She is active in the community through her memberships in the Friends of Hospice Board, Zion Lutheran Church, and as a co-founder of the ROADS (Reaching Out About Depression and Suicide) Organization. Ellen served on the Consumer Recipient Sub-Committee for 3 years, as part of the National Suicide Prevention Initiative through SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). Ellen has received her certification in Death and Grief Studies through the Center for Loss & Life Transition in conjunction with Colorado State University. She is a volunteer for the Public Health Department, which offers immunization clinics. Ellen also donates her time and knowledge of health care to community health organizations.

Ginger Swedberg Huntington

Office Manager, CPC

Ginger was born and raised in Shawano and is a graduate of Shawano High School. After spending several years in California, she returned to Shawano in 2005. Ginger received her Wisconsin life insurance license in July of 2008 and continued her education by completing the CPC - Certified Preplanning Consultant Program in 2011. She also has her certification in Death and Grief Studies through the Center for Loss and Life Transitions in conjunction with Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO. Ginger is working at Swedberg Funeral Home as a pre-planning specialist and as a bereavement class facilitator at the Swedberg Family Center, 114 N. Bartlett Street, Shawano, which was opened in the fall of 2009. On September 27, 2008, she married Shane Huntington and became a step-mother to Brooke and Chase. Ginger and Shane excitedly welcomed a baby girl named Nya to their family on June 14, 2010. Since her return from CA in 2005, Ginger has been active with the 501(c)3 organization ROADS (Reaching Out About Depression and Suicide), serving as President, Past-President and Board member. She was recently appointed to the Shawano City County Public Library Board and is a former board member of the Hospital Foundation. She and her daughter, Nya are members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. In her free time, Ginger enjoys gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting, beading, scrapbooking, reading, traveling, skiing and most of all, spending time with her family.

Todd Swedberg

Owner and Funeral Director

Todd is a graduate of Shawano High School. He continued his education at UW Milwaukee, graduating with a psychology degree. He graduated with honors from Milwaukee Area Technical College with an associate degree in mortuary science and is now working as a licensed funeral director. Todd and his wife Sarah have three children, Grayson, Sailor, and Crew.

Bob Wendt

Retired Funeral Director

Bob is a second-generation funeral director who has lived all his life in the Bonduel area. He grew up in Wendt Funeral Home and assisted his father in both the funeral home and Wendt Gamble Store. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1957, attended U. W. Stevens Point, graduated from Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1961 and received his Wisconsin Funeral Directors license and National Board Certification. Bob joined his father at Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel, which he later owned and operated along with his wife, Nancy, before selling the business in 2005 to Lon and Ellen Swedberg. Bob was married to Nancy (Theis) for 64 years before her passing and the couple have three beautiful children and a daughter, whom has passed on. He still lives in the former Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel. Bob is semi-retired but will still work with families for visitation and funerals at the Bonduel location per request. He is very active in the Bonduel community and is on the Board of Directors for Bonduel State Bank, Navarino Nature Center, Bonduel Community Archives and White Clay Lake Sportsmans Club. He serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Bonduel and is an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Bonduel. Bob enjoys the out-of-doors when he can get away - hunting, hiking, exploring and trout fishing.

Kelsie Wolfgram

Funeral Director

Kelsie was born in Waupaca, WI, and is a member of the Waupaca High School graduating class of 2015. She continued her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and graduated with honors and an Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science in 2018. Following her graduation, she quickly became a licensed funeral director in December of 2018. She is also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. In 2019, she joined the staff of Swedberg Funeral Home and continues to enjoy connecting and serving the families that trust us with their loved ones.

Kelsie is very close with her family, which include her parents and her two sisters. She enjoys boating on the Chain O’ Lakes, commissioning pieces as a freelance artist, and going home to spend quality time with her cat Jinx.

Daniel Bruno

Funeral Director/ Certified Celebrant

Dan was born and raised in Indiana, PA and lived in Greensburg, PA for most of his adult life. Before attending mortuary school, Dan was involved in Federal Security through DHS and Law Enforcement for 14 years. He was able to finally answer his true calling in 2021. He attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in Pittsburgh PA, were he was a member of the Student Senate and served as Senate President. After graduation, he was hired on by Swedberg Funeral Home and made the journey from Pennsylvania to settle in the beautiful city of Shawano.

Accompanying Dan is his wife Brandy and their coonhounds Lizzy, who passed in 2023, Emilio and Molly.

Dan loves his family and pups and enjoys fishing, boating, firearms, playing video games and cutting wood in his backyard. He is a Mason with the Shawano Masonic Lodge #170, a Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey fan and prides himself on his Italian heritage and facial hair. Dan is a licensed Funeral Director, a Certified Celebrant, a Licensed Crematory Operator and looks forward to serving the Shawano community and helping those in need.

Merissa Krueger

Apprentice/ Office Administrator

Merissa was born and raised in Cecil, Wisconsin and graduated from Shawano High School in the class of 2015. In August of 2022, she received her Funeral Director Apprenticeship license from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She then went on to join the Swedberg Funeral Home staff in September of 2022. She quickly progressed and found herself working and enjoying being a part of the office administration for the funeral home. In her free time, Merissa enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, traveling and spending time with her two sons, Trenton and Robert.

Joseph Corrao

Funeral Director

Joseph “Joe” Corrao was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received an Associate Degree in Accounting at Stratton College in 1996 and later graduated from the MATC Funeral Service Program in 2006. After graduation, Joe worked as a funeral director at a funeral home in the Milwaukee area. In 2013, he moved his family to Shawano to join the staff at Swedberg Funeral Home. Joe is married to Elizabeth “Liz” and together they have six wonderful cats: Cleo, Snowy, Honey, Angelo, Lucia and their purebred Siamese, Luna. Joe and Liz are active members of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church and Joe belongs to the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, he enjoys working around the yard and rooting for the Packers but especially enjoys scoring the Brewer games.

Dazzy Swedberg

Therapy Dog

The Swedberg Family have always been animal lovers and pet owners. After the death of two beloved pets, the Swedberg family discussed a therapy dog as a possible option for the funeral home. Therapy dogs can help provide comfort, have shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Research shows that petting a dog can increase serotonin and dopamine levels in your brain, assisting with mood enhancing benefits, as well as, lowering blood pressure. While attending the NFDA convention in fall of 2018, they met with Ultimate Canine LLC and the process of acquiring a therapy dog began.

On July 8, 2019 the Swedberg family and Swedberg Funeral Home welcomed to their staff, Dazzy, a Yellow English Lab, born on February 4, 2019. She is a trained and certified therapy dog from Ultimate Canine LLC. Dazzy spent 5 months under going intensive training, testing and certification before becoming a licensed therapy dog. Training is an ongoing process and she is still training with the funeral home staff so she can be of assistance when requested by families. When visiting Swedberg Funeral Home don’t hesitate to greet and pet Dazzy.
