Robert “Bob” Miller Jr., age 83, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully in hospice care surrounded by family on May 28, 2026. He was born on January 10, 1943 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Robert Miller Sr. and Priscilla (Tousey) Miller and was an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee (Mohican) tribal community.
Bob graduated from Bowler High School with the class of 1961 then served with a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Unit stationed at Vint Hill, Virginia, U.S. Army and NSA intelligence base allocated to the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was later assigned to travel to Istanbul, Turkey and liked to tell stories about his military experience and travels.
Bob was united in marriage to Brenda Pecore on November 28, 1964, in Milwaukee, WI. He is survived by his four children Brigetta Miller, Rob Miller, Beth (Alan) Gaffney, Barb (Jack Senzig) Miller and his five grandchildren Michaela, McKenzie, Tia, Alexis, & Peyton. He is further survived by his youngest sister Valerie Elmergreen and brother-in-law Earl Pomeroy. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Miller Sr. and Priscilla (Tousey) Miller, wife Brenda (Pecore) Miller, siblings Ila Jean Pomeroy, Sherman (Marilyn) Miller, Darlyne (Simon) Dworschak, and brother-in-law Michael Elmergreen.
Bob held various leadership roles within the Great Lakes Intertribal Council and the Stockbridge-Munsee tribal government and served many years as District Director with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD)
Bob often reminisced about growing up in his family’s tiny stone house on the reservation without indoor electricity or running water, picking cherries in Door County as a young boy, fishing on the Red River and hunting in the woods with his childhood friends and relatives. In his later years, he had a passion for aviation and loved to talk about airplanes and attended the EAA for over 20 years. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching the Packers.
A funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:30 am at the Stockbridge-Munsee Elderly Center, N8651 Maplewood Street, Bowler, WI on Saturday, June 13,2026 with Rev. Johnathon Peters officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am until the time of service.. Burial will be held at Red Springs Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Mohican Veterans and the Gresham American Legion.
